Engelsmän som handlade och skeppade cognac använde engelska förkortningar. Var den ännu äldre, märktes den VO (Very Old) eller VSO (Very Superior Old) och om cognacens färg inte gjorts mörkare på artificiell väg lade man då till ett P vilket blev VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale). Otard, also known as Chateau de Cognac, is a French cognac house founded in 1795 by Jean-Baptiste Antoine Otard. The company, still in the hands of the same family, figures in
the List of oldest companies produced by Japanese survey firm Tokyo Shoko Research in 2009.
The firm is based in the Château des Valois (Château de Cognac), Cognac, Charente, its home

Jean-Antonin Renault, son of a long line of Charentais Merchants, founded the original house of Renault Cognac in the town of Cognac in the year 1835. He was aged 25 years old.

Great voyager, he introduced the very latest technology into his cellars, taking inspiration from his travels around the world. For example, he was the first cognac maker to ship his cognac in bottles from day one. At the time, most of his competitors shipped their cognac in casks. Bowmore Distillery on the inner Hebridean Island of Islay was first legalised in 1779 and
is one of the oldest Distilleries in Scotland. Situated on the shores of Loch Indaal, it was
acquired by the Company in 1963 and is one of only five Malt Whisky Distilleries in the

Ballantine's is a range of blended scotch whiskies distilled by George Ballantine & Son
Ltd in Dumbarton, Scotland. 1827
The Ballantine's flavour is dependent on 50 single malts, four single grains and in particular the fingerprint malts from Miltonduff and Glenburgie.

Ballantine's has a range of six scotches with very distinctive characteristics and age statements:

Finest: blended - soft, sweet and complex
12 year old: blended - Honey sweet, spicy and deep
12 year old: "Pure Malt" vatted malt - Fresh, soft, and nutty

17 year old: blended
21 year old: blended - spig, aromatic and heather smoke
30 year old: blended - rich, oak influenced and lingering

Jack Daniel's är ett bourbondestilleri baserat i Lynchburg, Tennessee i USA.
Jack Daniel's uppfyller alla krav för att vara en bourbon då den innehåller minst 51% majs, men
då den genomgår en extra destillering (till skillnad från normal bourbon som tex Jim Beam) så är
den också en Tennessee Whiskey (Sour Mash), sur mäsk. Skillnaden är att en Tennessee Whiskey genomgår en extra filtreringsprocess kallad Lincoln County Process.

Övrigt

Metaxa (Greek: Μεταξά) is a Greek distilled spirit invented by Spyros Metaxas in 1888.
It is a blend of brandy and wine made from sun-dried Savatiano, Sultana and
Black Corinth grape varieties. It is then blended with an aged Muscat wine from the
